Anammox-Based Processes for Mature Leachate Treatment in SBR: A Modelling Study

چکیده
Mature landfill leachates are characterized by high levels of ammoniacal nitrogen which must be reduced for discharge in the sewer system and further treatment municipal wastewater plants. The use anammox-based processes can allow an efficient ammonium-rich leachates. In this work, two real scale sequencing batch reactors (SBRs), designed to initially perform partial nitritation/anammox (PN/A) simultaneous nitrification denitrification (SPND) urban leachate, were modelled using BioWin 6.0 order enable plant-wide modelling optimizing. constructed models calibrated validated data from long- short-term (one cycle) SBR operation fit well main physical-chemical parameters (i.e., ammonium, nitrite nitrate concentrations) measured during operations. Despite different strategies terms dissolved oxygen (DO) concentrations aeration mixing patterns applied operation, allowed understanding that both PN/A process was shown as contributor removal when availability organic carbon low. Indeed, SBRs, activity oxidizing bacteria inhibited due free ammonia, whereas anammox active presence ammonium their ability recover DO inhibition. Increasing external addition, a prompt decrease biomass observed, with SPND becoming mechanism. Models also estimate production rates nitrous oxide aerobic ammonia heterotrophic denitrifiers. found robust tool effects operating conditions (i.e, temperature, cycle phases, concentration, addition) on performances reactors, assessing contribution bacterial groups involved.

Treatment of Landfill Leachate by Anammox Process
In most cases, the anammox process is used for nitrogen removal from reject water coming from dewatering of digested sludge. However, there are more industrial streams suitable for treatment by partial nitritation/anammox process. The landfill leachate may be a good example of such wastewater. Generally, landfilling is the most used solution for treatment of urban solid wastes. The problem with...

The research was on the sludge start-up of SH-A process for mature landfill leachate treatment, SH-A is the combined SHARON (Single Reactor High Activity Ammonia Removal Over Nitrite) ANAMMOX(Anaerobic Ammonium Oxidation). The seed sludge was from Yangeryu Landfill of Anshan, Liaoning province of China. The landfill leachate was used to cultivate the sludge. The results showed that the start-up...
متن کاملTreatment of landfill leachate by ozone-based advanced oxidation processes.
In this study, laboratory experiments are conducted to compare the efficacy using several ozone-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), such as O3, O3/H2O2, and O3/UV, to treat landfill leachate. Raw leachate was initially coagulated by ferric chloride (FeCl3) at the experimental-determined optimal dosage of 900 mgl(-1), and the ozone-based AOPs were subsequently applied. Results indicate th...

A two-stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) and sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system was introduced to treat landfill leachate for advanced removal of COD and nitrogen at low temperature. In order to improve the total nitrogen (TN) removal efficiency and to reduce the COD requirement for denitrification, the raw leachate with recycled SBR nitrification supernatant was pumped into the fi...

Fenton treatment (Fe(2+)/H(2)O(2)) and different ozone-based Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) (O(3), O(3)/OH(-) and O(3)/H(2)O(2)) were evaluated as pre-treatment of a mature landfill leachate, in order to improve the biodegradability of its recalcitrant organic matter for subsequent biological treatment. With a two-fold diluted leachate, at optimised experimental conditions (initial pH 3, H...
